Overview

Abuse is defined as an act or omission that results in physical injury, emotional disability, and sexual exploitation with or without child’s consent. The Child and Family Services Act guides the safety and well-being of children. The Cross Lake office oversees all abuse cases within Cross Lake & Thompson. Winnipeg abuse cases are managed by ANCR. Calls can be received from Intake or a case worker, and may be followed up within 24-hours, depending on level of risk. The child needs to be medically seen, RCMP are notified and if any further medical assessments are needed, RCMP make the referral.
